Google Has Already Pulled Glass’s First Porn App
Just hours after its release on Monday, MiKandi’s new porn app for Google Glass was pulled by Google. Tits & Glass was the first adult entertainment app built for the search giant’s new wearable tech, but it’s no longer available to download from the Glassware hub.
The move will be a big disappointment to MiKandi, which saw a lot of interest in its app even though it was only available for a short time. The company claims the Tits & Glass website saw almost 10,000 unique visitors following its release, while “a dozen” Glass users actually went and installed it.
We can’t say we’re too shocked that Tits & Glass was pulled, but believe it or not, it didn’t actually breach Google’s Platform Developer Policies until the company silently updated them to ban explicit material on Friday — possibly in anticipation of MiKandi’s app.
MiKandi explains on its blog:
MiKandi became aware today that Google changed its policy over the weekend to ban adult content on all Glassware.
When we received our Glass and started developing our app 2 weeks ago, we went through the policy very carefully to make sure we were developing the app within the terms. We double checked again last week when making the site live on the Internet and available for install for testing during last week’s announcement. We were not notified of any changes and still haven’t been notified by Google. We also double checked our emails to see if any notifications of policy changes were announced, but we haven’t found any such emails.
There’s a good chance Tits & Glass won’t be available on Google Glass again, then — at least not through the official Glassware hub. But those who managed to download it before it was pulled should be able to continue using it. In suitable environments, of course.
MiKandi says it will change its app to comply with Google’s updated policies, but it’s unclear what those changes will mean for the app. After all, if you pull explicit content from a porn app, it’s not really a very good porn app then, is it.
