Samsung has officially announced the successor to last year’s incredibly popular Android-powered Galaxy Camera, aptly entitled the Galaxy Camera 2, just a few days before CES is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas.

Uncharacteristically, for a sequel, Samsung doesn’t appear to have added many new bells and whistles to the device, but the South Korean company promises that the camera should deliver a better experience overall in comparison to the 2013 model.

The 2014 Edition of the Galaxy camera features a 16.3MP BSI CMOS sensor, 21x optical zoom, a 23mm Wide Angle F2.8 lens, Optical Image Stabilization, a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD touchscreen display, 8GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD), 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean skinned with the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI and a 2,000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery.

This 2nd generation Galaxy Camera also packs some exclusive and extremely interesting looking Android apps, such as ‘Photo Suggest’, which provides location-based recommendations of the most popular places to take a photo, and ‘Store Album’, which automatically creates a digital photo book from your on board gallery.
