Surprise! Samsung disses Apple yet again in its latest ad
Samsung has long subscribed to the “If you can’t beat ’em, release a load of ads making fun of them” strategy when it comes to smartphone rival Apple.
In its latest ad, the South Korean tech company keeps this trend alive by recruiting comedian Hannibal Buress to show off Samsung Pay’s big advantage over Apple Pay.
And — you know what — as far as petty ads taking shots at your rivals go, this one actually isn’t bad.
As Buress reveals during his visit to New York’s famous Katz’s Deli during the 30-second spot, Samsung Pay’s advantage over Apple Pay is that it doesn’t require the usage of special credit card terminals enabled with NFC connectivity. Instead, it works with the old standard Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), which means that it’s compatible with every credit card reader out there.
It’s certainly a compelling point for Samsung, but whether it’s enough of a selling point to get people to pick a Galaxy Note 5 over an iPhone 6s remains to be seen.
