Google+ Integration Coming To Flipboard Thanks To Partnership With Google
Google’s VP of Product Management, Bradley Horowitz, announced that Google has partnered with Flipboard to integrate Google+ streams into the popular magazine-styled reader. Google+ will join Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and a host of other social services available on Flipboard thanks to new extended APIs. This new integration is a great step forward for users, especially those who enjoy accessing all of their social content from a single app such as Flipboard.
The new Google+ integration will allow Flipboard users to access posts, photos, and videos from their Google+ stream — all without leaving the Flipboard app. Interestingly enough, Google has its own Flipboard-like app called Google Currents, which currently does not support Google+ integration. We’ll have to see if Google adds this to their Currents service or if Currents is plagued to become another abandoned Google project.
Google+ truly is a much better social solution and I’m happy to see it expand its reach across apps. With further integration among apps such as Flipboard, its bound to catch the attention of users unfamiliar with the service.
Google remains committed to the future of Google+ and I fully expect a few surprised to be announced at Google I/O later this month.
