A Nexus 7 In Your Dash, Because “Some People Don’t Really Like Apple”
Anyone who owns a tablet has, at one time or another, thought about how they could make it their car infotainment system. There have been a million solutions from universal mounts to professional in-dash installations, and while we’ve seen many, this is the first Nexus 7 I’ve seen double as an infotainment system. It’s an absolutely dreamy combination, and one that will have 90% of you thinking about hacking up your dash (you might want to leave it to a professional).
The guys over at Sonic Electronix did an excellent job installing a Nexus 7 into the dash of a 2008 Dodge Ram and I’m as Jelly as can be. While the Nexus 7 is a WiFi only tablet, you could still use many of its streaming and navigation features via your phone’s hotspot function.
As you can see, it’s buttery smooth, and the easy pullout slot makes it easy to swap the tablet in and out without compromising aesthetics. You simply can not find a cheaper, more feature rich solution to a complete in-dash infotainment system.
So, who’s going to Android-pimp my car for me? Just say the word and my car is yours.
