Amazon will be holding a press event on September 6th to reveal what we can only assume will be the next line of Kindles. The invitations have been arriving in press inboxes everywhere but give no details in regards to what will be announced. With the holiday season a few month away, Amazon will be getting a head start and it will be interesting to see how their new offerings compare to the current budget tablet leader, the Nexus 7.

Given Amazon’s history and the fact that they practically invented the budget tablet market, I have no doubt they will bring something special to the table. Whether it’s specs, price, or bundled media content, the next iteration of the Kindle Fire should give the Nexus 7 a run for its money.

I’m guessing we’ll see a 10-inch model as well as a 7-inch at around $199-$249 (which is the sweet spot price). What do you think Amazon is planning for September 6th? Are you looking forward to a new Kindle Fire or is it Nexus 7 or bust for you?
