It looks like the Twitter app for Android received a trendy little update today. With version 3.4, Twitter appears to be focusing more on visual aesthetics more than anything else. You’ll find they’ve added photo improvements across the board, including:

• New profiles with header photos
• Photo streams on profiles and events
• Pinch-to-zoom on photos
• Search suggestions for people, topics and hashtags
• Improved protected account management including the ability to accept or deny follower requests
• Other improvements, polish, and fixes

Whether or not this is the right direction for Twitter remains to be seen, but they appear to be slowly deviating from the text-based platform they started as and moving towards a more eclectic mirco-social network.
