Google Gains An Additional 5.5 Million Musical Works Thanks To Licensing Deal With European Music Publishers
You can’t expect people to shop at your store if you don’t have what they’re looking for. Google has been working hard to fill the Play store with all the content users crave. We’ve seen it grow from the once Android Market, with little in the way of apps, to the now Play store, full of apps, music, movies, books, and more.
Continuing with their goal to get us as much content as possible, Google has inked licensing deals with European music publishers to bring us an additional 5.5 million musical works from artists such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Just last month, Google secured a deal with Warner Music Group to complete it’s U.S. label collection, and now that they’re reaching out internationally, their musical library is on its way to being a serious contender to Apple’s iTunes Store.
Now, if Google could only show our friends up in Canada (and other countries) some love.
