Hisense Pulse Set-Top Box With Google TV Now Available On Amazon For $100
Hisense Pulse is a new set-top box powered by Google TV that was first announced at IFA back in August. Its $100 price tag makes it one of the most affordable ways to introduce Google TV to your living room, and it comes with some nice features. If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on one, you can place your order now through Amazon. But you’ll have to be quick if you want it before Christmas.
The Hisense Pulse comes with a nifty double-sided remote control that has a full QWERTY keyboard on one side, and traditional controls — plus a trackpad — on the other side. It also offers dedicated shortcut keys to apps like Netflix, YouTube, and the web browser.
It supports full 1080p video output, and offers HDMI, USB, and Ethernet ports. As you’d expect, it also has built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to surf the web and stream content directly to your television. It’s compatible with the H.264, MPEG-4, and AVC video formats.
One of the biggest criticisms of Google TV so far — and one of the reasons adoption has been slow — is its price. The first set-top box, the Revue from Logitech, was priced at a whopping $300. That’s $200 more than its competitor, the Apple TV. Now that cheaper solutions are slowly but surely starting to appear, Google TV could become more popular.
If you’re interested in the Hisense Pulse, and you’d like to have it in time for Christmas, then you’ll have to get your order in relatively quickly. In fact, I’d order today to be safe.
