Apple Co-Founder Says The iPhone Is ‘Somewhat Behind’ Android
Steve Wozniak says the darnest things. Even though he’s the co-founder of Apple, and was one of Steve Jobs’ best friends, he’s not afraid to say what’s on his mind when he’s thinking something negative about Apple.
In a recent interview with the German newspaper Wirtschafts Woche, Woz says that even though Apple’s fans are very loyal, the iPhone is starting to fall behind the competition.
“I am proud that we have such loyal fans. But this loyalty is not given, the needs with the best products are always kept alive and confirmed.
Currently we are in my opinion in the smartphone business with the features somewhat behind. Others have caught up. Samsung is a great competitor. But precisely because they are currently making great products.”
Woz has always been open with his opinions regarding Apple competitors. He’s even told us on The CultCast that he carries a Samsung Galaxy S3 with him at all times along with a couple iPhones.
Last year Woz claimed that Windows Phone apps are “more beautiful” than those found on Android or iOS. He’s also been vocal about his disappointment in Siri. Many of Woz’s claims against Apple are valid as the Android platform enjoys a number of software and hardware features that haven’t been seen on iOS yet.
Apple is expected to unveil their latest version of iOS, iOS 7, later this summer. Whether it will be enough to make Woz happy though, well we won’t hold our breath.
