Paragon Puts A Tablet Dock In Your Car’s Dashboard [MWC 2013]
BARCELONA, MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS — Here at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, a company called Paragon is showing off an awesome new tablet dock called the cTablet Docking Station. It lets you mount your device within your car’s dashboard, providing you with a cutting-edge in-car entertainment system that’s already full of all your media, your navigation apps, and lots more.
Smaller tablets make terrific in-car entertainment systems. You can use them for navigation, media playback, and lots more — but mounting them on the windshield isn’t always practical because of their size. But thanks to the cTablet Docking Station, that’s not an issue.
The device fits into your car’s dash just like a stereo, and its interchangeable inserts make it compatible with “all current 7-inch tablets,” according to Paragon. Unfortunately that doesn’t include the iPad mini — which is just over 7 inches — but here’s to hoping that’ll change later on.
Once your tablet is docked into your dash with the cTablet, you can use it for entertainment, navigation, communication, and more — providing you use it safely, of course. It even allows you to control certain vehicle functions, such as climate control, from your tablet’s display.
The cTablet has a dock connector built-in, which will ensure your tablet doesn’t run out of power halfway through your journey. You can also choose to have a GPS and FM tuner built-in, so even if your tablet doesn’t have these features, you can still take advantage of them.
Paragon couldn’t confirm pricing or availability at MWC, but we’re hoping to hear more soon.
