Leaked HTC M4 Combines One’s Flagship Design With Midrange Specifications

The HTC One may or may not steal marketshare from the Samsung Galaxy S4, but there’s one thing we can all agree on: It’s a stunning smartphone, and its premium aluminum build makes it one of the few Android-powered smartphones that can rival the iPhone’s build quality — as I noted back in February.

But as a high-end device, it is expensive. Fortunately, HTC appears to be bringing the One’s flagship design to a more affordable device with midrange specifications, as you can see from the leaked photo of the HTC M4 above.

The HTC M4, which is likely to be called something completely different when it gets its official debut, looks almost identical to the HTC One. It boasts an almost identical design, with the same silver and white styling and stereo speakers either side of its display.

But the M4 is slightly smaller, and very different on the inside. According to specifications obtained by PhoneArena, this handset has a 4.3-inch 720p display, a dual-core processor, 16GB of storage, and a 1,700mAh non-removable battery.

To compare, the One has a quad-core CPU, a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 32GB of storage, and a 2,300mAh battery. Interestingly, though, the M4 will reportedly have the same UltraPixel camera technology as its bigger brother, and the latest version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean — which not even the One has yet.

The M4 is expected to launch “near the end of the second quarter,” according to PhoneArena, so not too long to wait now. If you’ve been lusting after the HTC One, then, but its price tag is just a little out of your reach, then the M4 could be the perfect alternative.
