The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, a new 8-inch slate that’s set to join Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tab lineup, has been leaked ahead of its official unveiling. SamMobile has obtained both a picture of the device, as well as a list of its specifications, which include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is expected to come in two variations, one of which will boast both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity while the other will be Wi-Fi only. Aside from those differences, both devices will offers the following:

  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
  • 8-inch WXGA TFT display with a 1280×800 resolution
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1.5GB of RAM
  • 16GB of internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot
  • 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 5-megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 4,450mAh battery
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • A-GPS

All of these specifications are to be packed into a shell — undoubtedly made of plastic — that measures 209.3 x 122.2 x 6.95 millimeters.

These aren’t the same specifications that we saw from that leaked Samsung roadmap back in April. We were looking forward to a 1080p AMOLED display and a quad-core processor, but clearly this device is set to be another midrange solution like its smaller brother.

We don’t yet know when the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will get its official unveiling, but we suspect it won’t be too far away if press shots have begun to leak.
