Asus Support Staffer Reveals New Nexus 7 Specifications [Image]

The last person you’d expect to get a full rundown on an unreleased product from is someone on the end of a technical support line, but it appears Asus may have been briefing its support staff on the second-generation Nexus 7 ahead of its release.

A Redditor has posted a screenshot of a live web chat he has with an Asus employee, who spilled pretty much everything there is to know about the new Nexus 7 — apart from its price and release date.

According to the employee, the device will offer a 7-inch LED display with a 1980×1200 resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. It’ll also run the upcoming Android 4.3 operating system, and it’ll have two cameras — a 5-megapixel one on its back, and a 1.2-megapixel one on its front.

Here’s the screenshot:

Now, we must point out that there’s a chance this screenshot is fake, or that the Asus employee providing this information found it on Google. These specifications certainly seem plausible, and they line up with recent Nexus 7 II rumors, so the second scenario is certainly plausible.

With that said, take the information with a pinch of salt for now. There’s a good chance the new Nexus 7 will look a lot like this internally, but until it’s confirmed by Google, don’t get your heart set on those specifications.
