Galaxy Note II May Skip Android 4.2.2, Jump Straight To Android 4.3
Are you itching to get Android 4.2.2 on your Galaxy Note II? Well, don’t hold your breath, because according to one carrier, it’s never coming. The device is expected to skip the release and jump straight to Android 4.3 instead.
“Samsung have elected globally to skip the 4.2.2 update for this device and will instead go to a newer version of Android,” Australian carrier Telstra announced this week.
“No schedule has been provided for this update.”
This move hasn’t yet been confirmed by Samsung, and we don’t know whether it’s going to be exclusive to the Australian Galaxy Note II. But with Android 4.3 right around the corner, and Samsung working harder to ensure its recent devices are up to date, it wouldn’t be too surprising.
Android 4.3 isn’t drastically different to Android 4.2.2. A leaked ROM for the Nexus 4 recently revealed that the vast majority of changes and improvements are under the hood.
However, Samsung could make some nice enhancements to its TouchWiz user interface that would make it more exciting. You can at least expect to see some of the Galaxy S4’s new features ported over.
