NVIDIA Is Planning To Launch Its Own 7-Inch Tablet [Rumor]
A couple of images have surfaced displaying what appears to be an Android tablet manufactured by NVIDIA, with “Tegra Tab” branding. The “Tegra Tab” looks like a blend of both the gaming handheld Shield and the new Nexus 7, and sufficient evidence shows that NVIDIA’s upcoming tablet was designed around the basis of the ASUS’s latest tablet.
This photograph displays NVIDIA’s China Vice President, Zhang Jianzhong, standing in front of a whiteboard which clearly mentions the Nexus 7.
The image below reveals that there is a camera on the back of the device – presumably equipped with a 5 megapixel sensor – a 3.5mm headphone jack, microUSB and microHDMI ports, a SIM or microSD slot, and what appears to be a stylus slot hidden in the top left corner.
The size and layout of the ports on the device indicate that this is more than likely a 7-inch tablet, and speculation suggests that it could be powered by NVIDIA’s finest Tegra 4 chip.
According to The Verge, NVIDIA trademarked “Tegra Tab” at the United States Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO) back in April, so there’s a good chance we could be seeing a genuine set of pictures. The publication also noted that NVDIA’s partner, Shenzen Homecare Technology, was supposedly working on a Tegra 4 tablet equipped with a stylus – so it would make perfect sense if this is the device we’re seeing in these shots.
