Verizon Begins Selling Moto X Online For $199

Verizon has today begun selling the new Moto X online for $199 with a new two-year contract, just under a week after it made its debut on AT&T. The device is available in black and white with 16GB of storage, but it’s not yet available to purchase in your local Verizon store.Of course, Verizon doesn’t yet have access to Moto Maker, which allows you to customize your Moto X and choose its color scheme, add engraving, and personalize the startup message. That’s exclusive to AT&T at the moment — though it is expected to come to Verizon later on — so the black and white default models are the only options at the moment.

Verizon is also offering the Moto X off contract for $599.99. That’s $40 cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S4, but it’s still a little pricey given the Moto X’s specifications. It’s certainly not a slouch, but it doesn’t have “cutting-edge” hardware like a 1080p display or the latest Snapdragon 800 processor.

It’s unclear why the Moto X is only available online from Verizon, but the carrier recently said that you’ll get it in store “in the coming weeks.” In the meantime, you’ll just have to wait a little while for it to be delivered to your door.
