An unlocked version of Sony’s latest budget-friendly mid-range Android-powered smartphone, the Xperia M, is now officially available to purchase in the U.S. for $249.99 (with free shipping) directly from Sony Mobile.

The Xperia M is a pretty impressive entry-level handset, featuring a 4-inch FWVGA display, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, an Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD), 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a compact 1,750 mAh battery.

The device ships running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, skinned with the latest version of the Xperia UI. Sadly, the Xperia M will not be upgradable to 4.2, or 4.3, and is currently on offer in a variety of colors, including: black, white, yellow and purple.
