The HTC One Max Is Official With A 5.9-Inch 1080p Display & Fingerprint Scanner
HTC has finally announced the One max, its new flagship phablet that hopes to compete with the Galaxy Note 3 and other super-sized smartphones. As expected, the device boasts a 5.9-inch 1080p display, a speedy Snapdragon 600 processor, and a fingerprint scanner.
In many ways, the One max is just a larger version of the original HTC One; it has the same quad-core processor, the same 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera, and the same front-facing BoomSound speakers. There are a number of significant differences, though, the biggest of which is that massive 5.9-inch display.
The One max also has a removable back cover — something many users missed with the original One — which opens up to reveal a microSD card slot. There’s also a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, just beneath the camera, which allows you to unlock it using your fingerprint — just like on the new iPhone 5s.
The One max’s power button has been shifted to the side of the device to make it easier to access, but there’s still a built-in infrared blaster on the top that’ll allow you to control your television and other devices. You’ll also find three small connectors on its side, which provide wireless charging.
The One max ships with Android 4.3 pre-installed, along with HTC’s latest Sense 5.5 user interface. The device will be available on Sprint and Verizon in the United States, and you’ll be able to pick it up next month.
