Verizon Pushing Out Galaxy S4 Android 4.3. OTA Update With Gear Support And More
Verizon Wireless is in the process of pushing out a very much-anticipated over-the-air (OTA) update to all of its carrier-branded Galaxy S4 handsets in the United State. This upgrade brings the latest version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean together with Samsung’s “premium suite” software – which made its debut appearance on the Galaxy Note 3.
In addition to all of the added functionality that Android 4.3 brings to the Galaxy S4, users will also now have the ability to use the Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Samsung’s KNOX enterprise security server on the device, thanks to the inclusion of the “premium suite” software.
Also bundled into this update is a new version of the standard Group Play media sharing app (V2.5), as well as support for Band 4 LTE, which allows Verizon customers to take full advantage of the operator’s recent 4G expansion to the 700MHz and AWS spectrum.
The complete changelog for this update can be seen below:
- Jelly Bean 4.3 Operating System
- Galaxy Gear Support
- Band 4 enable
- Group Play 2.5 (Note 3 version)
- Samsung KNOX support
If you’re a Verizon Wireless customer and haven’t yet received the update OTA, you can head into “Settings,” then “About Device,” and select “Check for Updates” to manually scan for the upgrade.
