Google Rolls Out Android 4.4 KitKat To Nexus 4
Google has finally begun rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat to the Nexus 4, almost three weeks after the update made its public debut alongside the new Nexus 5.
The 239MB download delivers all of the features and improvements that arrived on the Nexus 7 last week, including SMS integration in Hangouts, new Photos and Downloads apps, a much-improved Phone dialer with search integration, wireless printing, and more.
The update does not deliver the Nexus 5’s “Google Experience Launcher,” however, so you won’t get larger app icons, transparent status and navigation bars, Google Now on the home screen, and some other user interface tweaks. But you can follow our simple how-to which shows you how to install this launcher yourself — without rooting.
KitKat is rolling out to the Nexus 4 over-the-air in phases, so if you haven’t already got it, you should see it soon. Those who manually installed the ROM when it was made available last week shouldn’t expect to see it at all.
