HTC has clarified its Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans for the flagship HTC One and Droid DNA. Those with a One in North America will get the update — along with Sense 5.5 — by the end of January; while those with a Droid DNA will receive the software “by the end of Q1” 2014.

HTC also cleared up some confusion regarding the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for One users on Verizon. “Delivering 4.3 on VZW will be a two step process,” the Taiwanese company announced on Twitter. “First update for compatibility happening this week, followed by Android OS update in Dec.”

Despite this delay, the company insists that Verizon customers will get KitKat by the end of January — around the same time other users in North America receive it.

“We’re planning to upgrade the Droid DNA to 4.4 by the end of Q1,” HTC added.

While the wait for KitKat will surely be a long one — especially if you’re an HTC One user who’s also waiting for that new Sense 5.5 user interface — it’s reassuring to see that HTC has already confirmed its support for these devices.
