Verizon has posted the official update documents for a rather pleasing upcoming upgrade for Samsung’s former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. The paperwork reveals that the update, build VRUEMK2, is scheduled to bring some bug fixes and stability enhancements, in addition to unlocking the annoying micro USB restriction, which meant that users could only use official Samsung chargers on their handsets. So from now on, all non-Samsung chargers will work correctly with the S4.

The Galaxy S4 was released back in April, 2013, and packs a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, a 1.6GHz quad-core Cortex A15 processor, a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD), a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a removable 2,600 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Key Device Enhancements:

• E-mail connectivity has been improved.
• Consistent Data roaming in Canada and Mexico.
• Device will now “Power On” after software update has been completed.
• Non-Samsung chargers will now work correctly with the phone.
• Improved data connections whilst using enterprise proxy servers.

Sadly, Verizon did not officially announce a date for the rollout of this upgrade, but we can assume that its just over the horizon, though, seeing as operators usually post these documents on their websites just a day or two before they start pushing out the update.
