LG Insists It Did Not Release Android 4.4 KitKat For Optimus G
LG insists it has not released an Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Optimus G, despite an announcement on the official LG Estonia Facebook page that said the software was on its way.
“Mistakenly, there has been information spreading via LG Electronics Estonia Facebook page that LG Optimus G (E975) will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in Estonia,” LG told Cult of Android. “We confirm that it is not so and sincerely apologize for any given false or ambiguous information.”
LG Estonia’s original announcement was published on Facebook last Thursday, but it has since been removed. The company did release an update for the Optimus G that “allows users to to use 4G internet,” but the release did not bring Android 4.4 KitKat to the device.
LG says it doesn’t know when the KitKat update will be available for the Optimus G — or whether it will come at all.
“Currently in our possession we have no information on whether and when LG Optimus G (E975) will receive an Android 4.4 KitKat update in Estonia,” a spokesperson told us. “If this information comes to our knowledge we will immediately update you.”
This will surely be disappointing news to Optimus G owners who have been waiting for a KitKat update to arrive all weekend, but LG does offer its apologies for the inconvenience (and presumably the disappointment, too) caused.
