Alcatel One Touch has today announced a trio of affordable Android-powered devices; one smartphone and two ultra-portable tablets. The Idol X+ is the company’s latest mid-range smartphone, with a design not dissimilar to previous Idol devices. Whilst both the Pop 7 and Pop 8 tablets are aimed at the lower end of the market.

In terms of internals, the Idol X+ packs a 5-inch 1080p display, a 2GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card), a 13.1-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel 1080p front-facing shooter and a 2,500 mAh battery. In addition, Alcatel also insists that the X+ will feature some “good quality” audio from the speakers positioned along the bottom edge of the handset.

Alcatel’s Pop 8 tablet sports a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, 2GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD) and a 2-megapixel rear-facing shooter.

The Pop 7 is the least impressive of the three devices, incorporating  a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of expandable internal memory and a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Idol X+, Pop 7 and Pop 8 will all ship running a modified version of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with some slight manufacturer customizations, including a flatter, snappier and more stylised user interface and navigation menus. Both tablets come in black and white and will be available in the EMEA region in Q1 of 2014, priced at €149 for the 3G-enabled model of the Pop 7 and €199 for the 3G enabled model of the Pop 8.

Unfortunately, Alcatel failed to provide any pricing or worldwide availability information for the X+, but it did announced that it will begin shipping the handset in China in mid-January.
