After Android 4.4.2 KitKat was released by Google, HTC was quick to announce that it would update the carrier variants of the One in the US to KitKat within 90 days. However, a few days ago the company announced that it would be missing its self-imposed deadline as the update has been delayed for at least a couple of weeks.

Now, in a surprising turn of events, Sprint has announced that One owners in the United States can manually pull the KitKat update from their servers with a wider roll-out beginning from 11th February.

So, if you own a Sprint branded One, head over to Settings -> About Phone and start mashing the ‘Check for updates’ button for some KitKat goodness.

Apart from all the features introduced by Google in Android 4.4, One owners will also get to enjoy Sense 5.5 that brings with it quite a lot of improvements and enhancements. This includes an enhanced Blinkfeed with Pocket integration and the ability to turn it off completely, an updated Gallery, Music Player and Camera app among other things.

A  global and automatic roll-out of the 536MB update will start from 11th February for all those who are in no hurry to get some KitKat goodness on their One.
