Sony Xperia SP Finally Gets Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
While Sony is making inroads in the high-end market with the likes of the Xperia Z1 and the upcoming Xperia Z2, its midrange device lineup isn’t too bad, either. One such midrange device is the Xperia SP, which is a slightly upgraded version of the Xperia S from 2012.
This smartphone is now getting its much-anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update from Sony carrying the software version 12.1.A.0.266.
Considering that Android 4.3 isn’t a whole lot different from Android 4.2, we’re not sure if there will be any noticeable differences as far as core functionality and performance is concerned. However, Sony has made a bunch of tweaks to its user interface reminiscent of the Xperia Z1, which also runs Android 4.3.
The update is already going live in some parts of the world with Australia being among the first and should hit most devices globally by the end of the week. Users can check for an update through the Settings or connect their smartphone to the Sony PC Companion tool to download and install the update manually.
