HTC Desire 8 Will Arrive On February 24
HTC will announce its new midrange Desire 8 handset on Monday, February 24, at an event in Beijing. The company has just begun issuing invites to the press, one of which was published on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo.
It’s still unclear at this point where the Desire 8 will be available. Given that its launch event will take place in Beijing — not at MWC in Barcelona, which kicks off on the same day — it seems China will get it first, but recent rumors have claimed the device will also make its way to the U.S. and Europe later on.
Although the Desire 8 will be a midrange device, it has some impressive specifications — and a very attractive physical design. We’re expecting it to feature a 5.5-inch display, a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Like the next-generation HTC One, it will also feature virtual buttons rather than capacitive ones.
There’s no word on pricing or release dates yet — we’ll need to wait until next Monday for that.
