Samsung Galaxy S5 Will Have An Octa Core Model As Well
The Samsung Galaxy S5 was launched yesterday with much aplomb in Barcelona. During the course of the announcement, Samsung announced that the smartphone will feature a quad core Snapdragon 801 chipset. But there was nothing specified about an octa core model, which was a tad surprising.
However, the company’s official mouthpiece has now revealed the existence of the octa-core variant as well, although the page has now been taken down. There’s no word on the exact model of this chipset, an image posted by Samsung Tomorrow specifies that this SoC will have a clock speed of 2.1 GHz. Traditionally, the Korean manufacturer has used ARM’s big.LITTLE CPU architecture for its octa core devices, which could be the case here as well.
Samsung has used these octa core variants for global markets which don’t have 4G LTE support, so it is clear that nothing has changed in that regard. Its performance is yet to be assessed, but we’re guessing it will still be marginally behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 which is a powerhouse with its 2.5 GHz CPU cores. That being said, the users might not see a lot of difference in terms of functionality between the two variants.
