The Goophone S5 Is A Samsung Galaxy S5 Clone
Chinese manufacturer Goophone is turning out to be quite an expert in launching clones of popular smartphones. After the company’s iPhone 5s clone recently, the company has now shown off a near identical looking clone of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
This comes off as a bit of a surprise considering the fact that the smartphone was announced less than 48 hours ago. We’re guessing the makers have used an image of the Galaxy S5 and merely used photoshop to add their logo on the back. But the end product should look pretty much like the Samsung flagship. However, users will not find features like the heart rate monitor and the fingerprint scanner here.
Surprisingly, Goophone tries its best to mimic the Galaxy S5 even in terms of hardware, but there are some noticeable differences as you’ll see below:
- 5 inch 1080p display
- 13 megapixel camera
- 2 GHz octa-core MediaTek SoC
- 2GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage
- Android 4.2 (not 4.4 KitKat)
- Dual SIM standby
- 2,800 mAh battery
Goophone will price the smartphone at $300, which is more than half of what the Samsung flagship would cost during launch. Users must remember though that while the Goophone S5 packs similar hardware as the, real world usage will be vastly different. The fact that it runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean rather than KitKat is also a negative. What’s your take on this new clone?
