Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 Get Android 4.4.2 KitKat In The U.K.

Galaxy-Note-3-KitKat

It’s going to be a good morning for readers in the U.K. who have a Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3, because Samsung has finally starting rolling out its much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade. This is the same update that arrived in Germany and other parts of Europe weeks ago, and it brings a number of tasty TouchWiz improvements.

KitKat isn’t considered a major update for the Galaxy S4 or the Galaxy Note 3, but the changes and improvements it makes will certainly be welcomed by users. Samsung has made a number of neat design changes, updating a number of app icons, revamping the Phone dialer, and making its status bar icons white to match those of stock KitKat.

Users can also use Hangouts as their default SMS and MMS app, and they select their default launcher from within the Settings app — perfect for those who prefer to use things like Apex or Nova Prime rather than Samsung’s own TouchWiz launcher.

In addition to this, Samsung has made some performance improvements, which promise smoother multitasking and better battery life.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 is available to download now over-the-air if you have an unlocked and unbranded device. Those with a locked handset may have to wait for their carrier to approve the update first.
