WhatsApp Chat History Reportedly Immune To Security Threats

WhatsApp

According to a technical consultant Bas Bosschert, WhatsApp for Android has some serious loopholes in place, mostly pertaining to security. He says that malicious apps can easily get hold of a user’s WhatsApp data thanks to the way messages are stored on an Android device.

WhatsApp traditionally stores user data on the SD card, which technically means that any app with a permission to read your SD card can get WhatsApp data and store it conveniently in some other location. Of course, not all apps will do this and if you’re watchful enough, such issues can be avoided. But that doesn’t take away the fact that there is such a system in place.

The popular third party cross platform messaging client got an update recently bringing a bevy of changes including the ability to change some privacy settings. However, this issue has been around for a long time, so the new update isn’t to be blamed. We hope WhatsApp puts some security system in place to avoid any such potential security threats.
