Google’s Upcoming 8.9 Inch Nexus Tablet Might Carry A Premium Price Tag [Rumor]
There has been plenty spoken about Google’s plans to launch an 8.9 inch Nexus device to succeed the widely popular Nexus 7. And newer reports are now pegging this device to be priced slightly more than the predecessor to accommodate for the change in display size and “high-performance” internals.
This rumor claims HTC to be the favorites to produce this new device, but that’s something which only time will tell. It is said that pricing will start from $299 this time around, which doesn’t sound like a lot for an 8.9 inch tablet.
“Volume production is expected to start in July or August. The expectation is [that] this will be a lower volume product, carrying a premium price tag to support the specifications,” said Jora Alexander who is the director of tablet research at IHS Technology.
Alexander also claimed that there could be a third generation Nexus 7 in 2014, but didn’t clarify the exact time frame of release citing lack of information. Regardless, it’s good to see Google transitioning into a larger tablet and its past success will be crucial in convincing potential customers.
