Samsung SM-G870 Could Be The Galaxy S5 Active [Leak]
According to a new leak from Twitter, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active could be real after all. Carrying the model number SM-G870, this smartphone will reportedly break cover soon. However, with the standard Galaxy S5 already water and dust resistant, how different will this model be?
One speculation suggests that the handset could feature something like a MIL-STD-810G certification which will make it immune to humidity, thermal shock, radiation, salt, dust, rain and transport.
This is a military grade certification, which will make it a heavy duty device. However, since this is only a leak at this point, we suggest you take it with a pinch of salt.
Considering that the Galaxy S5 is already dust and water resistant, the availability of yet another water and dust resistant handset would be redundant. So it is imperative that the Korean manufacturer makes the smartphone stand out in any way possible.
It is further believed that the handset could launch via major carriers like AT&T and Sprint, while the Galaxy S4 Active from last year was exclusive to South Korean markets and AT&T in the U.S.
