Sony Xperia Z2 Gets Rooted Before Official Release

Xperia Z2

The Sony Xperia Z2 is yet to be launched in global markets, but a developer over at the XDA forums has already managed to root the device. This proves that the upcoming Sony flagship isn’t any different from the Xperia Z1 as far as developer options are concerned.

The images show the smartphone running a custom recovery of ClockworkMod (v 6.0.4.6) which is one of the most popular custom recovery setups going around. This new revelation comes from XDA user DooMLoRD.

The Xperia Z2 has received widespread acclaim for its hardware and it’s good to know that it will accommodate for the developers as well. We’re guessing Sony will offer an easy option to unlock the bootloader of the smartphone like many of its existing flagships.

Unfortunately for hopeful fans, Sony has reportedly stumbled across some supply related issues which has pushed the launch date further from April 11. So there might be a bit of waiting to do before you get your hands on the latest Sony flagship.

Some retailers in the UK have stopped taking pre-orders of the smartphone and pushed the expected shipping dates to early May. The delay was initially believed to be due to heavy demand for the smartphone and while that might be a contributing factor, it’s certainly not the primary reason.
