HTC One M8 Mini Headed To Verizon [Rumor]
The HTC One M8 mini will be a Verizon exclusive in the United States, according to a reliable tipster familiar with HTC’s plans.
The new device, which hasn’t yet been confirmed by HTC, is expected to be available next month with a 4.5-inch display, a 13-megapixel camera, and HTC’s latest Sense 6 software.
All of the top Android smartphone manufacturers — including Samsung, HTC, LG, and Sony — now offer midrange “mini” versions of their premium devices. They give budget-conscious consumers access to flagship brands and therefore allow manufacturers to take advantage of (make more money from) those brands.
Since HTC announced the One M8 last month, then, we’ve been waiting for news about the One M8 mini. The original One mini isn’t a year old until August, but recent reports have claimed its successor will launch as early as May — and the ever-reliable @evleaks says it’ll be a Verizon exclusive in the U.S.
“HTC One M8 mini going to Verizon,” @evleaks announced on Twitter on Monday night, without revealing any further details about the device or its launch date.
Based on recent rumors, we expect the handset to deliver a 4.5-inch 720p display, a quad-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. It isn’t expected to offer the same Duo Camera setup as the One M8 but a single 13-megapixel shooter instead — though it is likely to feature BoomSound speakers.
The One M8 mini is likely to be powered by the latest Android 4.4 KitKat software alongside HTC’s new Sense 6 user interface.
