Sprint today announced yet another new Galaxy S5 variant called the Galaxy S5 Sport. The device is identical to its siblings on the inside — with the same Snapdragon 801 processor and 1080p Super AMOLED display — but it sports a textured form factor for increased grip and physical buttons for easier navigation.

At first glance, the Galaxy S5 Sport looks just like a regular Galaxy S5 in a protective gel case — but its colorful textured finish is a permanent fixture. The device is “built for the athletic lifestyle,” and it’s designed to be easier to hold onto while you’re doing sporty activities.

The Sport also has physical home, back, and multitasking buttons like last year’s Galaxy S4 Active, but aside from these design changes — and the removal of the fingerprint scanner — it’s exactly the same as the original Galaxy S5.

The Sport boasts a 5.1-inch 1080p display, a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory. It has a 16-megapixel camera on its back, a a 2-megapixel camera on its front, a heart rate monitor, and a microSD card slot that supports 128GB cards. It’s also IP67 rated for dust- and water-resistance.

There are also some new sport features pre-installed, including Sprint Fit Live, MapMyFitness, and Activity Zone. The former delivers instant access to your favorite health and activity apps from the active wallpaper, while MapMyFitness uses GPS to track all your fitness activities and workouts.

Activity Zone, which made its debut with the new Galaxy S5 Active, is a new Samsung feature that provides fast access to S Health, a compass, a barometer, a flashlight, and a stopwatch.

The Galaxy S5 Sport comes in Electric Blue and Cherry Red, and it will be available soon, exclusively from Sprint.
