Sharp banishes bezels with the stunning Aquos Crystal
Keeping the bezels as slim as possible is one of the simplest ways to make a smartphone that looks good, and that’s why the Sharp Aquos Crystal is quite possibly the most attractive handset you’ll see this year. It has hardly any bezels at all surrounding its 5-inch display, but its internal specifications aren’t quite as pretty.
The Aquos Crystal’s 5-inch display has a somewhat disappointing 720p resolution, and it’s powered by the same Snapdragon 400 processor that is featured inside many of last year’s midrange devices, including the Moto G, the HTC One mini, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
It also packs 1.5GB of RAM and a large 2,040mAh battery, which is good — but there’s only 8GB of internal storage with no mention of a microSD card slot. There’s also no mention of its cameras, but we do know the Aquos Crystal will measure just 131 x 67 x 10mm, and weigh only 5 ounces.
The Aquos Crystal made its debut in Japan today, and according to SoftBank’s press release, it will be launching on Sprint in the U.S. on August 29.
The handset does have a bigger brother that’s much more advanced internally. The Aquos Crystal X has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The only problem is, it will remain exclusive to Japan for the foreseeable future.
