It’s been years since Google’s News & Weather app for Android received any real attention, but the search giant today rolled out a major overhaul in preparation for its upcoming Android L upgrade. It includes a new design with a Google Now-based card layout, as well as tablet support, new navigation gestures, and more.

Google News & Weather is a one-stop shop for comprehensive coverage from over 65,000 web-based publications, so whether you’re into sports, politics, showbiz, or fashion — or you just want to check on the day’s forecast — it’s a must-have. And thanks to its latest update, it no longer feels like it’s being neglected.

Not only does News & Weather look a whole lot better with its new Material Design overhaul, but it delivers a much more enjoyable user experience as well. You can sign in using your Google.com account and then get personalized news updates, as well as weather information and local news for multiple places.

Navigating between categories is as simple as swiping, and you can expand stories you’re most interested in to view snippets and related articles. If you want to jump straight into a certain section, you can do so from the slide-out navigation drawer.
