Looking to pick up an excellent smartphone on a tight budget? Last year’s Moto X — which was widely considered one of the best handsetsĀ of 2013 — can currently be had for just $230 (with free shipping) for a limited time.

Motorola is no longer selling last year’s Moto X through its own channels because the company is now placing its focus on this year’s model, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get one. What’s more, buying last year’s flagships gets you incredibly capable devices at excellent prices — as this deal from eBay proves.

The online auction site is currently offering the 2013 Moto X for $58 less than Amazon.com, making it just $230 with free shipping and a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. This particular model uses GSM bands, making it compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S., and it has 32GB of storage.

The Developer Edition Moto X is exactly the same as the original, only it has an unlocked bootloader, making it easy to flash custom ROMs and other third-party tweaks. It has a 4.7-inch 720p display, a dual-core Qualcomm processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The eBay listing says it’s a “new” Moto X, but that simply means it’s in new condition and not refurbished. Just don’t be fooled into thinking this is 2014’s model. Nevertheless, it’s a terrific deal on a great device, so you’ll probably want to take advantage of it while supplies last if you’re interested.
