Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition gets Android 5.0 Lollipop
Android 5.0 Lollipop is now rolling out to Sony’s Z Ultra Google Play Edition, according to handset owners. In addition to Material Design and other Lollipop goodness, the release brings a new battery saving mode, and a Smart Lock feature that promises to “protect your privacy more conveniently.”
The update weighs in at 397.3MB, but you’ll need 500MB of free space to download and install it.
“This software update will upgrade your Sony Z Ultra GPe to Android 5.0, Lollipop, which introduces a bold new visual style, improves performance, and adds features,” the release notes read. “Catch up at a glance with notifications on your lock screen. Extend time between charges with battery saving mode. Manage notifications with automatic interruption controls. Protect your privacy more conveniently with Smart Lock.”
This release makes the Z Ultra one of the first Google Play Edition devices to get a Lollipop upgrade. The software has already begun making its way to the LG G Pad 8.3 GPE, but most other devices in the program are still waiting. HTC’s One M7 and One M8 GPEs are expected to get Android 5.0 this week, however.
If you haven’t already received an update notification on your Z Ultra, you can search for it manually via the software update section inside the Settings app.
