Google finally approves HTC’s Lollipop update for the One M8
If you’ve got an unlocked or Developer Edition HTC One M8, then top up your battery, ensure you’re connected to Wi-Fi, and sit back and wait for an impending over-the-air update to Lollipop. Google has finally given HTC’s latest software the green light, and it’s making its way to the devices above today.
“HTC One (M8) Unlock and Dev Owners! We have received TA from Google on Lollipop + Sense 6,” HTC’s VP of Product Management, Mo Versi, announced on Twitter. “OTA will be out starting tonight.”
This is the Ons M8’s biggest software upgrade since it made its debut last February, and it brings everything you expect from a Lollipop update — including improved multitasking, lock screen notifications, and Smart Lock. The update also makes massive improvements to performance and battery life.
Thanks to Sense 6, however, you won’t get to enjoy Google’s Material Design overhaul all that much.
But don’t let that spoil your experience; Lollipop is the best version of Android to date, and you’ll want to get your hands on it as soon as you can. Keep your eyes peeled for that update notification, then, or search for it manually from within the software update section of the Settings app.
