Samsung’s water-resistant Galaxy S6 Active gets photographed for the first time
Samsung dropped one of the Galaxy S5’s best features — its water-resistance — from the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, but it isn’t giving up on water-resistant devices completely.
If this is something that’s important to you, look out for the South Korean company’s upcoming Galaxy S6 Active, which has been photographed for the first time ahead of its official debut.
The images were sent into GSM Arena, along with the handset’s specifications. We cannot confirm any of it is accurate just yet — we’ll need to wait until Samsung’s announcement for that — but they certainly look genuine based on previous Galaxy Active devices.
The device certainly doesn’t look as good as the regular Galaxy S6 and S6 edge — far from it — but of course, Active devices aren’t focused on looks. Instead, they’re designed to be robust and rugged, so that you don’t have to worry about dropping them while you’re getting on with your life.
The good news is, the Galaxy S6 Active will be as food as its siblings on the inside, according to the source.
The device is expected to pack a 5.1-inch Quad HD display, Samsung’s super-speedy Exynos 7420 processor, and that incredibly impressive 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. It will also have a significantly bigger battery than the Galaxy S6 with a 3,500mAh battery.
GSM Arena doesn’t provide us with a launch date for the S6 Active, but with the Galaxy S5 Active more than a year old now, we expect it to appear any day now.
