Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus specifications leak out early
A full list of specifications for the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus have leaked out ahead of Samsung’s official unveilings. Both devices are expected to carry similar displays — though one will be curved on both sides — and there will be big differences internally.
“The Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge Plus, will feature 5.7-inch (5.67-inch to be exact) Super AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels,” reports the reliable SamMobile, but while the S6 edge Plus’s will be curved on both sides, the Note 5’s will be completely flat.
Both devices are also expected to come in the same four colors — black, gold, silver, and white — and they’ll carry glass blacks that will almost certainly be irremovable, ruling out a replaceable battery, and possibly a microSD card slot, too. But that’s where the similarities end.
The Note 5 will reportedly be powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 7422 processor, which is said to be the South Korean company’s first all-in-one chipset solution, or “ePop,” which combines a 64-bit octa-core processor with a GPU, RAM, storage, and Samsung’s own Shannon LTE chip.
Samsung has also been testing another Note 5 variant with an Exynos 7430 chipset and a 4K display, SamMobile says — but ultimately decided on the other model.
For the Galaxy S6 edge Plus, Samsung is expected to return to Qualcomm and use its hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, in addition to 32GB of storage, and a 16-megapixel camera that will boast optical image stabilization, and 4K video recording.
The S6 edge Plus will also offer a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed.
SamMobile doesn’t tell us when these devices will be available, but we expect the Galaxy Note 5 to get its unveiling in early September at the IFA trade show in Berlin.
