Spotify baits premium hook with free Chromecast
If you haven’t already grabbed a free trial of Spotify, you’re in luck – this deal makes joining the streaming music service even more enticing.
Today through February 28, when you buy three months of Spotify Premium for $29.97, you’ll get a free Chromecast.
You’ll need to be a US or UK resident and new to Spotify (or at least never redeemed any Premium trials) to qualify, of course, but a free Chromecast is a pretty sweet deal.
To use, you just plug the little round puck into your TV, power it with a USB cable, and connect it to your home Wi-Fi to play music or videos to your big-screen TV from your smart phone or tablet. It works from Mac and PC as well (with Google’s Chrome browser, at least) and can even work with iPhones and iPads.
Chromecast and Spotify work really well together, too, letting you play, skip, browse or search music via your Spotify app.
“Oh, and feel free to make calls, watch a video or play games – the music will keep playing,” says Spotify in its blog post.
With Chromecast, listening at home is easy. Simply plug Chromecast into your TV, connect it to WiFi and cast music directly from your phone or tablet. It works with Android, iOS and laptops, too.
Spotify Premium is $9.99 per month after that for ad-free, on-demand music, as much as you (or your data plan) can handle on any platform you want.
