You’ll never want to wear Victorinox’s monstrous new wearable
Victorinox wants to make your favorite wristwatch smarter with a new wearable that adds an LED display and new functionality.
The only problem is, it’s so ugly, you’ll never want to wear it.
Adding modern functionality to a traditional timepiece is a neat idea — especially for those who are attached to a trusty mechanical. But if the reason why you’re clinging onto that wristwatch is its design, Victorinox’s new Cybertool defeats the purpose.
Made in partnership with Acer, the clunky units clips around the case of your watch to add an LED display that shows a timer, countdown, stopwatch, incoming call alerts, messages, and more. The Cybertool also tracks steps, calories burned, and workouts — and helps you find your phone.
It’s water-resistant so you don’t have to take it off before stepping in the shower, and its built-in battery lasts for 5-7 days on a full charge. You can also sync the Cybertool with both Android and iOS.
That all sounds pretty neat — but look at it! The Cybertool is so ugly that it almost looks like a half-finished prototype. It completely spoils the look of your traditional watch so much so that you might as well just buy a smartwatch. Your analog would thank you for it.
Victorinox is yet to confirm how much the Cybertool will cost, or when it will be available, but I can’t imagine too many people are itching to get their hands on it. Would you wear one?
