Xiaomi’s stunning Mi Note 2 will help you forget about Galaxy Note 7
Still mourning the loss of your Galaxy Note 7? Xiaomi’s new Mi Note 2 can help you forget all about it. The stunning phablet shares a lot in common with Samsung’s failed flagship — and offers even better specifications.
You might think the Mi Note 2 is a Note 7 at first glance. It has curved glass panels on its front and back, a 5.7-inch OLED display that wraps around the edges of the device, and an aluminum frame that holds everything together.
[contextly_auto_sidebar] Under the hood, the Mi Note 2 packs Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz, up to 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. There’s also NFC, a high-precision GPS, lossless audio support, and a 4,070mAh battery.
On the back of the Mi Note 2, there’s a 22.56-megapixel Sony camera with electronic image stabilization and a dual-LED flash. On the front, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus and an f/2.0 aperture.
The Mi Note 2 will come in Piano Black and Glacial Silver, and it will be available in two flavors: An entry-level model, which has 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM for RMB 2,799 ($413), and the high-end model with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM for RMB 3,299 ($487).
For Galaxy Note fans seeking a flagship alternative to the Note 7, the Mi Note 2 is ideal. It has everything you could want in a high-end Android phablet (except an S Pen), and it definitely looks the part. There’s just one problem…
Like most Xiaomi devices, the Mi Note 2 will initially be available in China and other Asian markets. Xiaomi is yet to confirm whether this will be its first device to reach the West, but with global LTE support, you can use the Mi Note 2 on U.S. carriers if you import one yourself.
