WhatsApp finally adds support for stickers
WhatsApp is one of the biggest messaging platforms on the planet, and it has somehow gone without support for stickers — until now!
Some users now have the ability to send and receive stickers, and the rest will be able to enjoy the same functionality on both Android and iOS in the coming weeks. A selection of sticker packs from WhatsApp own designers are available, and third-party packs are coming soon.
Almost every other messaging platform has support for stickers — and has done for a while. WhatsApp has made other features more of a priority, but it is finally catching up. A new announcement confirms all of its 1.5 billion users will get to enjoy them soon.
WhatsApp sticker packs on the way
Stickers allow users to express themselves with cute and quirky faces, animals, objects, and more. Some of WhatsApp’s own packs include things like laughing teacups, crying broken hearts, and dinosaurs enjoying a birthday party.
To use stickers, you simply tap the new sticker button that appears inside the text field in your chats. You may be one of the lucky few who already has access to them, but the vast majority of us will see the update “over the coming weeks,” WhatsApp says.
In addition to sticker packs from WhatsApp designers and a selection of other artists, you’ll soon start to see third-party packs popping up in the App Store and on Google Play. You’ll purchase them just like any other app and they’ll show up in WhatsApp after being installed.
If you’re interested in making stickers of your own, you can find out more about building them on the WhatsApp website.
