Samsung exec insists Galaxy Fold is ready to hit the market
The lengthy wait for Galaxy Fold could soon be over.
One Samsung executive says the company’s first foldable phone is now “ready to hit the market.” Its launch was delayed due to a huge design flaw, but Samsung is confident the device will still see a lot of attention.
It was beginning to look like we would never see the Galaxy Fold. It’s been two months since the device was originally scheduled to go on sale, and despite promising a new launch date several times, Samsung has failed to deliver.
But it seems the South Korean company is determined to not disappoint. Samsung Display vice president Kim Seong-Cheol told attendees at The Korean Information Display Society this week that the Fold is now ready.
Galaxy Fold could appear any day now
“Most of the display problems have been ironed out, and the Galaxy Fold is ready to hit the market,” Kim said.
Samsung fans will likely be both excited and concerned by that comment. It’s good news that the Galaxy Fold is finally on its way, but it’s worrying that Kim says “most” of the display problems are fixed.
Does that mean there are issues Samsung wasn’t able to iron out? Unfortunately, it will likely be up to early adopters to find out whether the Fold is now durable enough to last — and live up to its hefty price tag.
So, when will the Fold go on sale?
Despite the recall and mounting concerns over the Fold’s durability, Kim remains confident that the device “will receive a lot of attention in the market.” But when exactly will we find out?
Well, we still don’t know. Kim’s comments give Galaxy Fold fans hope, but Samsung still hasn’t confirmed a new launch date for the device.
Recent rumors had suggested Samsung would hold a media briefing later this month before releasing the Fold in July. However, another Samsung official revealed later that nothing had been done to prepare for an event this month.
