Fortnite’s newest update brings insane drum shotgun
Fortnite’s second content update for version 9.30 is out. This release introduces the brand new drum shotgun to Battle Royale. Players will enjoy its insanely rapid fire rate — but not its less-than-spectacular damage.
Epic Games is currently enjoying a well-deserved two-week vacation. It pre-prepared some Fortnite updates that could be rolled out during this time to keep the game feeling fresh, and we just got the second.
This certainly isn’t one of the biggest updates we’ve seen to Battle Royale, but it’s better than nothing.
Let rip with the new drum shotgun
The only notable change to the game this week is the addition of the drum shotgun. It’s a bittersweet weapon with an incredibly fast fire rate that can be a lot of fun, but its low damage means it can also be incredibly frustrating.
The drum shotgun is available in common, uncommon, and rare variants and can be found in vending machines, loot carriers, and on the floor. It carries 12 rounds in each clip and has a base damage of 45/47/50.
You’ll enjoy using the drum shotgun if you have a fast trigger finger and you use it properly, but it’s certainly not the new king of the shotgun class. Other weapons are much more effective up-close, and that’s something you’ll need to keep in mind when entering gunfights.
